TONY BURGESS

A former City Life Comedian of the Year and runner up in Channel 4's ''So You Think You're Funny?'' - Tony appeared in ''The Comedy Zone'' at the Edinburgh Festival; supported both Jenny Eclair and Johnny Vegas on national tours and is currently a regular at Jongleurs and The Comedy Store - where he is a member of the Wednesday night Men At Work Topical comedy team.

''...Always clever often hilarious....'' (The Scotsman)

''A Demon set and staggering stage presence.'' (The Big Issue)

In 1996 Tony wrote and performed his own play ''Comfortable Shoes'' at the Edinburgh Festival.

The List referred to the show as ''Something of a rough hewn gem''.

The Times went further with their praise.

''...While making people laugh sometimes uncomfortably the play is strong enough to chisel and nag at the conscience...'' (The Times on Comfortable Shoes August 1996)

Having decided his plays might be better if real actors performed them, Tony wrote and produced a new play ''Fire Salad''. Initially performed as part of the Manchester Comedy Festival in 2001, the play was then commissioned by the Royal Exchange Theatre and played to full houses at the Royal Exchange Studio in May 2002. Another play Doorway has been commissioned for June 2003.

Tony has also accumulated a number of TV and radio credits. Along with Johnny Vegas he co-wrote and co-starred in the ''The Nightclass'', a six part comedy drama for Radio Four, which aired in August 2002 to rave reviews and has already picked up a Sony Award for best comedy.
