SARAH LEDGER
After years of being a respectable citizen; a teacher, mother of two and dog owner, Sarah took the life altering step of becoming a stand up comedian as the result of a drunken bet on New Year's Day 2002.
She quickly established herself as a vivacious performer with a scorching turn of phrase and a withering scorn for unwary hecklers.
Within weeks of beginning her comedy career, she was getting offers of paid work and won places in the semi finals of national comedy competitions, including BBC New Talent, Channel 4's So You Think You're Funny and Granada's TV competition, 'Stand Up Britain.'
In September 2002, Sarah won the title, Cumbrian Comedian of the Year.
She has worked at many comedy clubs including The Stand in Edinburgh and Glasgow; The Buzz Club, The Frog & Bucket, The Iguana Bar and XS Malarkey in Manchester; Rawhide and Head of Steam in Liverpool and The Amused Moose in London.
She is a regular performer and compere with the touring club Laughing Gas and has worked alongside performers such as Silky, Toby Forster, Anvil Sprigsteen and Mick Ferry.
She has written and performed an hour-long solo show, 'The Year of the Electrical Appliance' in her home town of Carlisle. The show is based on her comedy act with plenty of swearing, gynaecological references and domestic tips.
Sarah launched her own comedy club, Spot On at The Brickyard in Carlisle, on 1st June 2003. She is also writes a weekly column in her local paper The News & Star.
She is still a teacher, mother and dog owner, just much less bored.
