RUTH WHITE

LAUGHTER fans at Lock n Load Comedy Club over the last few years will have seen Ruth rise through the ranks from working on the door,to running the raffle, to wielding the mic on stage in front of 150 audience members at The Studio, King George's Hall, Blackburn.

She s now making a name for herself further afield as a compere, stand up and radio presenter. This seems like a meteoric rise, but there's more to Ms White than just comedy.

Although she's now treading the boards introducing acts at Blackburn's Lock n Load, Preston's One Night Stand and Bury Met's Big Value Comedy, she's actually been on stage for many years. She appeared in The Smug Roberts Show at Wigan Pier and she's performed sets at Baar 41, and The Buzz in Sale and Chorlton.

Despite intending to make a career in serious theatre, and having taken productions to Edinburgh, a role in Rita, Sue and Bob Too pointed the way to her true calling: making people laugh something she's now doing across the North West.

Her name has also regularly been amongst the credits of some of the best-loved TV shows of recent years. Soap anoraks may remember her swapping vegetable inspired innuendoes with Seth and Amos in the Woolpack in her days as Nick Bates' girlfriend in 1994, or playing Lisa Woods in Coronation Street for a short time in the 80s.

Ruth's also made numerous one-off appearances in shows such as Medics with Tom Baker and The Wanderers with Bryan Brown and narrated three series of Granada TV's First Post in 1984.

With many strings to her bow she's an actor, fluent in French and a qualified teacher Ruth could do anything but teaching her audiences to swear in a European style has so far proved more appealing! Radio 96.2 The Revolution 107 The Bee Ribble Valley Radio
