JO CAULFIELD

I never knew I could like a woman so much - I'm ashamed to say she did make me wet myself - Graham Norton

A multi-talented comedian Jo Caulfield has been one of the UK's most in demand female comics for more than a decade.

‘Jo is a regular guest on both Mock The Week (BBC2) and Have I Got News For You (BBC1).
Other TV appearances include: Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow - BBC One, Never Mind The Buzzcocks (BBC2), Saturday Night Live (ITV1), The Comedy Store series 2, 4 & 7 (Ch5), The Comedian’s Comedian (Ch4), Music Hall Meltdown (BBC4), The Bigger Picture (BBC2), Dawn French’s Girls Who Do Comedy (BBC2), The Stand Up Show (BBC1) and World Stand’s Up (Paramount/Comedy Central).

Born in Wales to Irish parents, comedian Jo Caulfield grew up in Derbyshire before moving to London to pursue her dream of being a stand-up comic, while working as a waitress during the day.

Jo Caulfield even met her long-time partner, Scottish writer Kevin Anderson, when he was running the infamous VD Club in London and the couple struck a two-year plan to either make it as comedians or give the whole thing up. They needn't have worried. Before long Jo Caulfield was a fixture on the British stand-up comedy circuit and hosting her own BBC Radio 4 show and her and Kevin celebrated their success by getting married in New York in 2002.

Happy to share her talent, one of top stand-up Jo Caulfield’s first breaks came writing material for Graham Norton, a relationship they still share, with Jo being both writer and programme consultant for all five series of the BAFTA award-winning BBC comedy chat show So Graham Norton. Jo Caulfield has also supported him on tour as well as Rory Bremner and Puppetry of the Penis, where Jo, quite literally "had a ball".

Female comedian Jo Caulfield was also head writer for Ruby Wax's Waiting Game while in front of the camera, her own TV outings include Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Mock the Week, Argumental and Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow. A talented straight and comic actress to boot, her acting credits include Family Affairs, Days Like These, Get Real and Beast.

But that does not mean that Jo Caulfield has abandoned her stand-up roots. A regular comedian at all the best venues and a favourite of The Comedy Club,Jo Caulfield has completed four nationwide theatre tours.

But apart from stand-up, perhaps her greatest love and success stories is on the radio. A regular guest on many shows including It's Been a Bad Week, Parsons and Naylor's Pull-Out Section, Quote... Unquote and The Now Show and Twenty Twenty, Jo was such a natural that Radio 4 asked her to present her own comedy series It's That Jo Caulfield Again. First aired in 2005, it is now one of the mainstays of the channel and on its fourth or fifth series. Don't ask Jo, she just turns up, switches on and has a laugh.
