ELIS JAMES

Cardiff-based Elis James began his comedy career in 2005. A bilingual stand-up who can perform in English or Welsh, he won the 'Best Comedy' prize at the National Student Radio Awards in 2006.

His first gig was during those tough, confusing years after leaving university, which for him were characterised by the sound of gentle sobbing. Anyway, Elis has taken his conversational, storytelling style all over the country during the past few years.

One of Wales' few bilingual comedians, Elis has gigged regularly in Welsh and wrote a one man show 'Bachgen Dymunol,' which he performed in summer 2006. Since then he has worked as a presenter on the S4C music show Bandit, and is preparing packages for Radio 1's Session in Wales with Bethan Elfyn. Elis has also written for television, and in 2006 won the 'Best Comedy' prize at the National Student Radio Awards.

A few of Elis' recent gigs include: Jester's in Bristol, Bath Comedy Cavern, Cheltenham Slak Bar, Pontardawe Arts Centre, Narberth Queen's Hall, Comedy Cafe Shoreditch, Grey Horse Kingston, Theatre Clwyd, Plymouth Vue 2, Tunbridge Wells, Bath University, and Comicopolis at the Swansea Grand Theatre.
